My name is Seth Vargas. I run Sleight of Hand Signs in Oakland, California. Raised here in the SF Bay Area, I've always had a lifelong fascination with letters and art. In 2017 I moved to Los Angeles to study sign making under Doc Guthrie at Los Angeles Trade Tech, like many others before me.
In the years since, I have been fortunate enough to work with many driven, brave, and talented small business owners who have taken a chance on themselves, just like I have. It's the most rewarding aspect of my job. Helping people create a vision they have in their mind is a powerful thing, and when done thoughtfully and in accordance with the rules I was taught by my mentors, I'm proud to say the majority of the businesses I work with have carved a unique little piece of the Bay Area landscape.
I made the decision early in my career to become the most well-rounded sign maker I could be — from paper signs to massive 150-foot realism murals, painted hours signs to 23kt gilded storefronts. The road is never-ending, and the learning lifelong, and I'm just beginning. I want to work with you!
